Mayflowers or May Flowers??? Empty Re: Mayflowers or May Flowers???

Post by MichelleL Fri May 01, 2009 4:11 pm

May...already! Holy Moly! I don't have enough brain power to remember everything I read from the April thread so I thought I'd just start new.

When our windows were put in last week the guy found termites in ONE stinkin' area so we spent last night with the Terminix guy who fumigated around our house. $1500....so sad. I can't believe it costs that much to get rid of a bug! Luckily the window guy repaired the damage with some help from my DH and the wood we had in the garage from another project. The other day was the WORST day ever! I'm sure some of you (Shannon) are gonna get a kick out of it....looking back it does seem pretty funny/insane/ridiculous!!! It started off with catering that was running behind and a baby that pooped. So I picked Brenden up from the highchair to quickly change him and when I layed him on my bed I saw poop on his leg, feet, hands and MY BED! Dude pooped out of his diaper and up his back. So I'm yelling (we are gonna be late with the food) and my sister is running in with wash cloths and a towel to lay him on....I'm thinking "this is BAD". Well, I get the mess cleaned off my kid and we bolt to deliver the food. The cart is full and we head out of the garage to my van and a big thunder comes thru and it starts raining....HARD! We get loaded up and are soaking wet but whatever. My sister is following me to the delivery because she has to go to her regular job as soon as we are done. We get on I-45 and notice the rain is HORRIBLE and traffic going south (we are headed north) is pretty thick. Then I see water coming up onto the roadway....everyone is driving about 20mph at this point because it is raining so hard. Anyway, get the food there (30mins late) my sister goes up to deliver and I stay behind in van with the baby. When we go to leave my navigation system is saying there is a collision on I-45, right where we need to go, and there are flood warnings everywhere. Finally it stops pouring and we leave...my sister following me. We decide to brave I-45 not knowing if the back roads are flooded and we are stuck, and I mean stuck, for 2 1/2 hours and have only gone 8 miles. So I see the exit for the Hardy Toll Road and call my sister telling her to follow me and we can get back to my house this way....then it starts pouring again. I only have $2 in cash but the Tollroad only costs $1 so I have enough to cover us both (she has nothing)...atleast the last time I took the toll road I would have had enough. So we cut infront of a bunch of angry drivers and get into the lane...smooth sailing on the tollroad....until we get to the exit and it's $1.50 per car! I was nearly in tears explaining to the toll booth guy about how we were stuck on 45 so long, my baby hadn't eaten since 9am (it was well past 2pm) and he was nice enough to let us pass thru. Thank God. So I pull into my driveway at 2:15 and when I open the hatch to take out the catering cart....I see it....chicken soup and ranch dressing EVERYWHERE! All over the back of my new van! So I clean it up and as I'm finishing Brenden (being a trooper) wakes and wants food. So we are getting in the house and when I walk thru the back door the smell of shit nearly knocks me over! My f'ing dog had gotten that dirty diaper and strung it all over my office....eating the shit. It wa a horrible horrible mess. I had to get out the carpet cleaner! So freakin' nasty! So that was my bad day.....thankfully it's over. Hope ya'll have a great weekend and a good laugh! LOL!

Hello Ladies,

i have read everything and I am going to post a few brief personals to try and get caught up.

1st off:

Shannon - I am so sorry your DH was laid off. That sucks hard core. Hopefully something wonderful will fall in your lap. FREAKIN ECONOMY!

Jessica - My mom broke her ankle too. She was ice skating on her 40th birthday and fell after being on the ice for like 45 seconds. The break was so bad her foot pointed backwards. She is now the proud owner of 5 screws a plate and a pin in her leg. I hope you mom gets better soon. I know the road she is on and its a bumpy one. I hope she takes everything in stride. My mom now doest even notice it. We do joke that she is sure to set off the alarm at the airport for taking so much metal through. Here is to your mom feeling better.
That is scary about the bee sting! I would have freaked out. I am happy she is doing ok.

Diana - The boy who died from the Swine Flu - he was from Mexico. He had crossed over the boarder to visit family in Brownsville ( a border town) and he had been infected and not treated for anything. He ended up passing away in a Houston Hospital a day or 2 later. Here people are truly over reacting to Swine Flu. They shut down the whole Ft Worth school district for a week and 1/2. Leaving people without child care. They also canceled the Mayfest which is a festival that had been going on every summer since the 70s. Basically what I have found out is that it is a flu that is severe. Nothing "pandemic" worthy. Media and government hype is outrageous. We are being careful but there is a lot of insanity to the hype.
Have fun camping!

Elise - I am so sorry things are so overwhelming right now. I totally feel you. Why does everything have to happen at once? It totally sucks. Keep your head up. I also find that one glass of wine or one beer does seem to help. I had one last night myself!

Michelle - I dont even know that Mamma said there would be days like the one you had. Something to be thankful for is its over!

Eileen - I hope the day shift works out for you. That would be totally cool!

AFM - Well I have been totally swamped with work and home. I swear I have been so busy and I am only one person and can only get so much done in one day. Unfortunatley it is not necessarilly good enough for the boss man. I am doing what I can but I have been so stressed out. The saving grace has been Nate. He is such a wonderful ray of light that really helps my bad days end on a good note. He is still feeling better and his teeth are still coming in. I cant wait for a small break from the teething.

Oh and I cant remember who posted it but Nate had a really hard time eating solids when his was in the middle of a major teething spell. He couldnt open his mouth wide enough for the spoon and then he would get mad so we went to a bottle for a few days during that.

We are baby proofing the house more this weekend and probably going by my office so DH can help me hang my pictures and stuff. I guess that is all for now I will try and check in later this weekend.

Take Care,

Hey Ladies.

Amy- Thanks. Mom is doing ok. She just isn't use to being down. I am kinda glad her company laid them off in Jan because if she was having to miss work she would freak out. She has a plate and some screws. I think we counted 6 or 7 on the picture they gave us. They put her in a boot and she likes it cause she can take it off to shower.

shannon- I missed your post somehow about you Dh, I'm so sorry. Hopefully something will come along.

AFM- It's hot today...lol. Miss Chloe is in an ill mood. I went to Wal-mart last night and there were no more mum-mums. She's really unhappy. I got her these puff lil crunchies things. She likes them pretty good cause she can hold them. I got her the veggie flavor. They just still aren't her mum mums.

oh and I finally got me a watermelon yesterday! lol I have been craving one soooooooooo badly! lol

Hope all of ya'll are having a great weekend.

Shannon - OMG! That sucks big time! Hopefully they at least gave him a severance!

Amy - glad Nate is still feeling better!

MichelleL - that does suck the big one - good thing it's over!

Hi to everyone else!

AFM: I got to sleep in this morning so I was so happy! I bought some jar cereal 'cause Alex can't seem to figure out how to mix the cereal with formula and fruit, but he can open a jar! So I got some so that way he'll give Logan breakfast on the weekends and I can sleep in! Smile Whoo Hoo! Then, we went to buy our new washer and dryer (it comes Monday morning), went to Kohls, then went to Jeremy's baseball game, ran home for about 20 min, went out to Target and BJs then went to dinner and came home and collapsed. Of course, now I have to deal with everything getting put away and then we have to start cleaning up in the basement so they can haul away the old washer/dryer and bring in the new ones! Busy but productive day! Now, tomorrow I just have to go to the grocery store!

At dinner, Alex got a beer so I had a couple of sips and have decided beer isn't too bad. I couldn't stand the taste in college - so much to the point that Alex stopped drinking beer because I wouldn't kiss him afterwards 'cause I couldn't stand the taste!

Ok - time to go wake up Alex from putting Jeremy to bed - I know he fell asleep in there! Smile Hope everyone has a decent night! Smile

Jessica - Hope your mom is feeling better! I can't imagine breaking something that hauls my butt around! I love watermelon too! I like mine with salt....so bad I know! ;-)

Amy - Sounds like a busy weekend but not hectic! I'm glad Nate is feeling better! I can't believe how many teeth he is getting! He is gonna have a full set of chompers before too long! LOL!

Eileen - That is so cool that you might get to go on days! I've worked many a nights and it was really hard....and I only had one kiddo to attend to! That pitcher of margarita's sounds SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

Elise - So glad you got to sleep in! I get up when Brenden gets up on the weekends (instead of 6am so I get a shower before the house opens up to breakfast LOL!) which is usually 7 or 7:30....it's so nice to get that little extra! Did you get a front loading W/D set? I've seriously wanted a red one for a long time! I don't think beer is too bad if it's in a frosty glass with a lime salted rim....weird I know!

Shannon - I hope ya'll are doing okay....

AFM - Today was a blast. Well, aside from Brenden not taking a morning nap and only sleeping for 40mins this afternoon! :-( My sister, her boyfriend and his two kids came over for a fish fry! We fried some tilapia and jumbo shrimp out side in the big fryer. It was so nice setting out on the patio drinking margarita's and eating some good fish! Her boyfriend is from New Orleans and dude can fry up some fish! LOL! Brenden spent much of this time in his swing on the swing set....he didn't even care if he was moving....just loved the company and food! I think he ate about 1/2 piece of fish by the time we were done. I kept giving him flakes of mine and he LOVED it! Tomorrow is a day of relaxation...I'm tired! Hope ya'll have a good Sunday!

MichelleL - we did get front loaders - electrolux ones to be exact. I don't remember the models, but a really good set. We decided it was worth paying the money for a good set and we'll just take it with us when we move! The washer is 4.7 cu ft and the dryer is 8. So, I should hopefully be able to do more laundry in less time! Smile

I keep checking my wal-mart for the mum mum's...and they are always out!!! My poor Landree she loves those things too. I am gonna have to suck it up and just order a case. We have checked all our other wal-marts too and they are all out.

AFM-I spent the whole weekend cleaning my house, finally all the clutter is cleaned up, and the place has been scrubbed from top to bottom. I mowed the lawn and did all the laundry too...busy but productive weekend. Today is my double day...and it is chilly and rainy...so it will be a long dreary day.

Hi ladies,

Shannon, I am so sorry to hear about DH. I will keep you all in my prayers. It's a hard thing to deal with but keep your chin up and stay positive.
On a better note, take your month of YMCA and enjoy. It's such an awesome place. DH an I joined when we lived in the city and then when we moved out there isn't one close to us.

Michelle, I just read the poo story....I'm laughing WITH you!!! Sorry about the termites and the extra $1500, always something.

Amy, you are so right I am so aggravated at how the media and gov are scaring the crap out of everyone over this flu. It's like tell everyone it's here, what the symptoms are and to see medical attention if necessary and let it go. It's everyday they make sure everyone knows it's getting a little closer to their front door.

Elise...JEALOUS!!!! We had to buy a new washer last year and we were having the threat of DH losing his job so we didn't spend the extra on the frontloader. We were trying to be cautious BUT I'm not buying another new one that isn't, that's for sure.

Jessica, she looks to be enjoying that watermelon.

Kim, my Walmart has been out of the mum-mums too, but there is a place for them still on the shelf. I don't know what the heck they're doing.
Isn't it the best feeling when u've deep cleaned and u can sit back and enjoy you clean house. I enjoy it when I do my regular weekly dust, floors, bathrooms but when I really get into everything it feels so good.

hey to the other mommas out there.

AFM: We went camping and it was cold and wet but we enjoyed ourselves. My lil girl is definitely a trooper and DH says she has his viking blood in her. That cold didn't phase her a bit. I had her layered up and a blanket on her out by the fire and she was loving it.
Not much else going on here, DH started his new job today so I can't wait to hear how that went for him.

Post by mythreesons Mon May 04, 2009 8:37 pm

Hey all I'm here...It was a rough weekend...So DH got 2 weeks severance and his vacation pay...The oldest guy that he worked with got laid off shortly ater him...Officially it's because they don't have enough work, but unofficially they told DH that he wasn't meeting deadlines.Well I guees that is what happens when you dump all the grunt work on one guy...but I think he's better off.He hated it there. He worked as a Landscape Designer for a Landscape Architecture firm and their speciality is doing athletic fields(and DH is not a sports fan)...Anyway, we've spent the alst several days trying to decide if he should try and get another day job or if I should or what...Bottom line is I don't have a degree in anything right now so I most likely won't find a job to cover ALL of our bills and DH was barely covering them but its not because he didn't make decent money, it's because of our debt...When we first got married, we spent WAY too much money and have been trying since then to recover...We've decided after lots of tears and headaches that we're going to meet with a bankrupcy lawyer...Please no nasty comments...I know you all aren't like that but this has been a very tough decision for us. Credit counseling isn't an option and neither is debt consolidation. We could've lived comfortably(even as a family of 5)on what DH was making before...If anyone on here has filed for bankruptcy and ownedtheir own home, please let me know how it worked out for you.We will be keeping the internet for now to be able to find jobs...So that's the latest news..Oh and Friday I was down at Dylan's school for a meeting and the school ended up in lockdown after someone got shot right in front of the school.Lovely right? When they finally let us go I had to get walked to my car because they hadn't yet caught the guy and when I came back to pick up ODS, I saw two officers photographing a bullet(casing?)next to a little cone about 10 feet from the front doors..I'm glad that all school entrances are locked once school has started and you have to buzz the intercom to get let in...Geez....So anyway, things here have been a bit hectic...Will let you all know how things go...

Shannon- how scary and crazy...and please we would never judge you, you have to do what you have to do to support your family the best you can. I know my Dad and Step-mom went through the process. I think they did something called a partial bankruptcy...I am not sure all the specifics but they were able to keep their cars and the house....I know a guy I used to work with here has filed a couple of times, and he is still able to buy more stuff...the attorney will give you the best advise. I have often thought about for ourselves.

Shannon - I agree with Kim! No one is going to judge you and you have to do what you have to do to take care of your family! DH and I went thru bankruptcy after Dawson and his nearly $1million in medical bills came along. The laws have changed A LOT since then...thank that damn George W. Bush....anyway....We filed on everything but our car and house. We just kept making the payments on whatever we wanted to "reaffirm". Meaning we would continue the loan as long as the bank would allow us. You have to make sure to make the payments on what you are keeping....one missed payment and you could be in default and lose it. Everything else you just STOP paying and the lawyer takes care of it all. You also have to make sure not to create any new debt from now until you file. Your lawyer will get you all the specifics and if he doesn't seem helpful enough so you all can understand the true benefit of bankruptcy you should find another one. Ours was fantastic. And just remember....bankruptcy was created for people with tragedies and job loss...people who truely are unable to pay their bills.....they were created for families like yours! Don't feel bad...know you've done the best you could with what you had and now is time for a new beginning! All of those creditors have been paid over and over in the interest you ahve been paying and they also have insurance that will help cover the balance of your debt. They are NOT hurting. With that being said, lots of companies are in financial trouble but it's their own faults for being so greedy for so long. Keep your head up! ;-)
