Announcing the arrival of Landree Kate!!! Empty Announcing the arrival of Landree Kate!!!

Post by Kim Sun Oct 05, 2008 2:55 pm

Landree Kate made her arrival at 8:29am on Thursday October 2nd. She weighed in at 7lbs 8oz and was 20in. Just perfect for a GD baby. I think she looks very much the same and at the same time very different than McKenna. Her hair is darker, she has a bigger nose (DH's) and has a dimple in her chin...it took us forever to figure out where it came from, as neither Jake nor I have one...my Grandfather did though. Anyway, c-section went as planned, no big issues there other than I could not sleep the night before. My Dr. was happy that it got done when it did though as my placenta was starting to fail. The hospital staff were just great. They were made aware of my breastfeeding issues right from the start and by my second feeding I had a lactation consultant in with me and we started right from the start with feeding and pumping immediately after to stimulate my breasts. I was also started on a prescription med right from the start to increase milk production. By day two we did have to start supplementing. My milk still has not come in, but I know she is getting a small amount of something as she gains at least a gram after she breastfeeds. We came home with a hospital grade pump and are going to give it this week to see if it ever fully comes in. I am okay with what happens either way. I was absolutely estactic to find out her weight...and felt even better when my Dr. told me what a fantastic job I did controlling my sugars. I was very happy with McKenna's reaction...she really just loved her from the start and had no problems with any adjustment. Let's just hope it continues at home. The craziest part about the day...DH's really good buddy's wife was due Nov. 5th, well in the afternoon we got a text message from them saying she was in labor, we totally thought they were messing with us at first as that is the way the two of them are. Nope...apparently they went to her routine visit and it was her first internal check, with out her feeling anything, she was 7cm!!!! Holy crap!!! So they went to L&D, and with her first child, she felt no discomfort at all until 10cm!!! The first text was at 3pm, they broke her water at 5:30 and their son was born at 6:29pm...ten hours down to the minute after Landree!!!! And his stats were 6lbs 8oz and he was 20 in...it was so weirdly the same!!!! At first we thought maybe they messed up her due date, but no he really was that early and that big, with no issues thank goodness, had she gone to term he would have been around 10lbs!!! They already have a pre-arranged marriage...LOL....So now we are all just adjusting, I missed you guys, that is for sure. Here is a link to my snapfish album if you want to check out some pictures...

Congratulations Kim and good luck with the BFing, I've given up on the actual boob and am going to exclusively pump, but keep at it girl! Don't forget to put warm compresses on them(as if you didnt already know)! Welcome to the world little Landree!! ^_^

Congrats. Landree is so cute. I have a question for you. I have never been able to BF due to no milk production. What did they give you to help. I would like to try BF but if I am not going to produce milk I am not even going to try.

Andrea- I might not be of much help as it didn't work for me, I am one of those people who just don't produce milk. But right from the start they had me pumping after each feeding to stimulate my breasts and increase production, and I also started on a prescription of Reglan, it is an anti-nausea medication but increasing milk supply is one of it's effects. It works for everyone...I am pretty sad about things not working out but I am glad I gave it a shot, I can't really tell you wether or not it is worth it, as I am glad I did, but am still beating myself up over the fact that I can't.

Congrats Kim glad all went well. Sorry about the whole bf thing but you know what you at least tried to breastfeed which is more than I can say for myself I won't even try to worried about all the fuss that goes with it all and sore boobs and such. I am sure Landree isn't gonna mind a bit though. Either way you are doing the best for her that you can.
