Post by jessijennings Mon Oct 20, 2008 12:19 am

Oct 17 2008 at 7:47 pm he was 5 lbs 10 oz and 19 1/2 inches long

a sweet but small little cutie came out after about 30 min of pushing and funny enough I was tired of the bearing down pushing and I was thinking ill just not tell them I’m having this contraction I’ll just take one break then come back and bear down again but.. You can’t not push so I was pushing just slightly and I heard we have a baby omg how did I miss the delivery I was sitting at the end of the bed...

I came out during a mild push not during a grab the handlebars hold your knees push your butt off one.. My Dh is in love hardly will share the baby at all it seems I only get him when he's hungry then he "wants to check his diaper" and tries to steal him but I’ve got in a few great snuggles.. He is so small but is full term! Did great on his tests and is very alert and bright eyed..

My DH said he looks like an Asian monkey and then every person who came in the room after that was like omg he looks just like you! To him so... I told him he must look like an Asian monkey...

He already has a range of cries from this teranisoris shreak to a little chirp squeak. ... However right now I hear the get my diaper back on I’m cold you evil facist cry echoing from his bedroom..

So I'll be back later let me know what you think of our little man Smile

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is precious. I am so happy for you. I was worried not having heard anything from you on here for a while. I am so glad your little man is finally here with you and your DH. I got a huge grin this morning when I saw that you had delivered. I was actually excited for you. It sounds like you and DH are exstatic and doing great. Very Happy

Thank you we think he’s adorable too.. Apparently my placenta was doing something my whole pregnancy they think and no one caught it which is how they explain the low birth weight.. I get kind of mad and am like are you saying there is something wrong with my baby! He’s fine he’s just a little small go away!
Lol he eats enough o make up for it he should be 10 lbs by tomorrow I swear.. it’s like you lay him down all swaddled and juuust pull the covers up over yourself and there is something in the sound of mommy relaxing that makes him STARVING after having fed just two min ago.. It’s like feed baby pee wash hands applied nipple goop wash hands feed baby… it never ends..
And yes Shannon I did actually go into labor on my own sort of.. I was having contractions but they wouldn’t let me leave the hospital after my stress test thing Thursday they told my dh go get her stuff were starting a mag drip.. we both where e like ummh no you’re not and started trying to tell them this and that about our birth plan and the doctor was like well.. You going to either do this or have a seizure and I’m going to take the baby c section..
They kept me pretty scared.. and then they kept telling me to keep my blood pressure down..
It was quite an ordeal and no I didn’t make it without pain meds.. I was going to I was doing okay but they didn’t think so they told me it was pain meds and relax or c section now.. I feel like a huge frailer though and my dad already made a smart comment about what happened to natural birth..
But o well I’m trying to do my best..

you shouldn't feel like a failure because you got pain meds...and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Contragts Jessi! I figured something was going on there. Sorry about your birth plan but the most important thing is that you are both happy and healthy. He's super cute and I hope you all are getting settled in. Smile

Jessi- do not beat yourself up about taking pain meds...I probably would have gotten em with Jeremiah like I did with the other two kids but I was afraid the dr would mess my back up worse than what he did when I had my dd and got the epi. Besides you're a ftm and never been through it all before no one should expect you to be superwoman nor should you feel like you have to be. You are not a failure at all labor is a painful thing. you should have been just as forward with your dad and said "hey why don't you try pushing a baby out and being stressed and feeling under pressure without pain meds and see how you do " He is a man he wouldn't understand the pressure and pain that goes along with labor and delivery because he has never nor ever will go through it firsthand.

You are awesome because you brought forth a healthy baby regardless of how the task was accomplished.

Congrats again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am proud of you for being flexible...a birth plan is a great idea, but you have to be ready to change it if it becomes necessary...and your plan worked in the end...your LO still made it here safe and sound, that was the real goal of the plan you know.

Yeah Jessi, don't beat yourself up. Although, I knew I was getting pain meds at the beginning, I am proud of you for even trying! It sounds like they were trying to keep your BP down so you wouldn't have to go in for a c-section because of excess stress. It sounds to me like they were trying to let you have a vaginal birth, like you wanted, just not EXACTLY how you wanted. I know it wasn't your plan, but you and the baby are both safe and sound! That's the best part! Plus you know you won't have to sit around for weeks waiting for an incision to heal. It took me about a week before I was able to get up and down without hurting. But even then, it was because I had a 3rd degree tear (my doc didn't believe in episiotomies and neither did I lol). So, it's good that you are all okay. And you can just tell your dad to hush up! They gave you those meds so your BP wouldn't skyrocket with every contraction. It's okay, hun. Hopefully next time you CAN have it the way you want! I am going to try w/o pain meds next time and see how far i can go! Anyways, I'm proud of you Jessi, you have done just fine and you have a beautiful baby! ^_^

Jessi- Seriously show me a man who could push out a baby of any size without pain medicine and I will give you a million dollars!!Ok not really but I don't know any man that could do what we do.I had pain meds to this time and I went completely natural last time... It happens. But now it's over and you have the your sweet little guy!Congrats again!
