Hey ladies I ran across this as I was surfing the net and figured I should pass it on to all my fellow mommies just in case. Because I would hate for someone baby to get hurt because I did not pass it on and make it known. I found a news story about a recall on the Rainforest portable playyards with the Fisher Price logo on them. I am posting the link here for those of you who want to go see for yourself if its legit and for others I am posting the actual article for you just to save time for you so that way you don't have to copy and paste the link....Pass this on to other fellow mommies also.

So here is the link the story was dated Jan 16 2009

The playpens in question are from the Rainforest Portable Play Yard line, manufactured by Simplicity Inc. and SFCA Inc.

Two hundred thousand units are being pulled because the rails can suddenly collapse. More than a thousand reports of problms have already come in.

Reported injuries related to these play yards include a broken nose, a broken wrist, a concussion, a chipped tooth, and a cut hand requiring stitches.

The play yards have sold over the last two years, priced at about $100.

If you have one of these play yards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that you stop using it immediately. Though it didn't make the products or sell them, Fisher-Price has voluntarily agreed to help consumers who own the product.

People who own one of the recalled play yards with the Fisher-Price logo should contact Fisher-Price for assistance.

Simplicity play yards recalled following child injuries

Thu, Jan 15, 2009 (BabyCenter News) — Fisher-Price has announced a recall of about 200,000 Simplicity Rainforest portable play yards in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

One or more of the play yard's rails can unexpectedly collapse, causing a child inside to fall or become trapped. CPSC has received roughly 1,350 reports of one or more rails collapsing. Numerous reports cited bumps and bruises to young children, and five reports detailed more severe injuries including a broken nose, broken wrist, mild concussion, a cut to the hand that required stitches, and a chipped tooth.

Fisher-Price did not manufacture or sell the play yards, but has voluntarily agreed to recall them and assist customers who bought one. Simplicity and SFCA, the play yard's manufacturers, have not responded to CPSC's request to recall the faulty products and have not addressed consumer complaints.

The portable play yards were sold with a bassinet, changing table, and mobile features. They have rainforest-patterned fabric and artwork and feature the "Fisher-Price" logo. Simplicity model numbers 5310 RNF, 5310 RNFC, and 5310 RNFW are printed on a sticker on one of the legs underneath the play yard.

The play yards were sold at retailers and specialty children's stores nationwide from January 2007 through January 2009 for about $100. They were made in China.

PS Your welcome Shannon!!! Like I said I would hate for one of our children to get hurt by something like this that's why I passed this on to you all. I know my sister in law has the same exact Play yard and it was purchased in like Feb 2008 and I referred the article on to her but not sure if she is gonna return it or not. I know that I told her when they had a recall on the Rainforest portable swing too and she went ahead and kept it instead of getting a refund or replacement. Its pure craziness I think but I can't force her to keep her now 10 month old son safe KWIM?
