Hi Ladies! I just want to say first that I love these boards! They are so much better than the new babycenter! I am due Feb 6th but scheduled my c-section for Jan 29th -- only 2 1/2 months to go! Ok, so it's been 6 years since I had a c-section with my DS. For the most part, it was a wonderful experience. I just remember that I had to lay flat for 12 hours after the surgery. Also, the day after I was discharged from the hospital, I had the most awful spinal headache and had to lay down all day -- they told me this was from the spinal block or whatever. I was just curious for any of you moms who recently had a c-section, how soon were you able to sit up and hold the baby? That's the one thing I really feel like I missed out on with DS.

I had to wait a long time in the recovery room waiting for a regular room. I was able to hold my DS while I was in that recovery room. They pretty much let me sit up and such, bed assisted, right away. I don't think I even waited 12 hours before I got up out of bed.. Hopefully it'll be the same for you. Now.. If I could only have convicened them to get rid of that catheder sooner I would have been fantastic! Good luck, it'll be here before you know it!

I had my c-section at 8am...out of the OR by 9am and back in my own room by 10:15. By the time I came up from recovery and was in my room I had all feeling back and was able to sit up and hold the baby...I too was like Michelle, if I could have only convinced them to take the catheder out that evening it would have been even better...they made me wait until the next morning. No headaches or anything else as a result of the spinal.

I had my c-section at 1:00 I got into recovery by 2:00 and got to hold him and work on feeding him there for an hour. Then they moved me to my room and took Nate to the Nursery. They then brought him to me when I was settled in my permanent room and after he had all his tests and stuff done. I was numb from surgery until the next morning when they removed the epidural. Which worked for me because they gave me my drugs through it for the first day. i had one of those button pumps that lets you give yourself meds every 30 min. Then after meds wore off the next morning I was walking by that afternoon but nothing interfered with me holding / feeding / loving on my son. It was just inconvenient that I couldn't move. That and I hated these things they put on your feet to keep the circulation going. They were the most annoying things ever. HTH

Thanks so much for all your input. I don't know why I am so nervous about this since I've been through it once before but I can't stop thinking about it. I really appreciate all of your responses! Thanks!
