Hey Ladies.
A little up date on me. Went to the Dr and had a great first appointment. Hubby went with me, turns out hes going to go to everyone. What a guy. Smile Oh and my Dr was a Plus Size Dr. She was fantastic..
Any ways I have been spotting and having some brown discharge for over 10 days now. The Dr's have had me go to see them for blood test, Vag Ultra sound, more blood etc. I got to see my wee baby on the monitor and it was amazing. My HGH levels have more than doubled so we know the baby is alive.
We did find out that im a carrier of Cystic Fibrosis. Hubby was tested as soon as the Dr seen us on Friday. Were waiting on the results. Hopefully we will hear soon. Were really nervous but were doing ok.
Im going in again on the 14th for another Vag Ultra sound for the spotting and a Dr Appt as well.
Also because of my age we need to do the screening for Downs and Spinal B. Im 36yrs old and this is our first baby.

Congrats on a great first appointment. It's always nice to find plus friendly doctors, especially during pregnancy. Sounds like they are being very proactive which is also reasuring. I know a lot of ladies who had spotting so hopefully it's nothing serious. Usually they say not to worry about anything that is brown as it indicated old blood. Plus it's pretty common to spot after a vag u/s.

Hope all the tests come out well.. keep us updated. Smile

I am glad your appt. went well!! I hope the test results are good too. I think it is awesome and amazing that you are having your 1st at 36. I am 28 and don't know if my body could handle another pregnancy! Two thumbs up for you! I wish you the best!

You do not “have” to have the test due to your age. It is still an option and in encourages you to read up on the test and know that it can have false positives.
I believe we have a lady on the oct forums who is older than you and having her first baby.
The only other person I know personally who had a child older then you was my mother she had my little brother at 40 but she didn’t have that test. They tried to make her but she said she wasn’t terminating anyway so what was the point.

But hello and congrats, sorry if im being brash i just really don't like it when people are pressured into doing medicaly evasive things and are not properly informed of there rites Smile

If its something you want to do then go for it! good luck hope it goes well and so on.

Congratulations and good luck! "I had bright red blood at 8 weeks and apparently it was bleeding from implanting. I freaked out though when i went to the bathroom and had bright red blood and it seemed like a lot. But had 2 vag ultra sounds and they said implantation bleeding although not common for it to be like mine but i was fine and i am having my little one 2 weeks from today c-section. As for the age thing take all your proper precautions but age is a number and as far as being a pregnant woman and good parent your age has nothing to do with it so enjoy it!

Congrats and good luck to you with the pregnancy. Also good luck on the testing. I hope things come back alright for you both. I am with the other plus sizer in saying Don't let them force or persist you into getting testing if you don't want to. There have been many that were older and went on to have perfectly healthy babies. But if testing is something you want done to give yourself piece of mind then by all means go for it. Either way may this baby being a blessing to your family.

Congrats on your new found pregnancy! Its a very exciting time. Try not to stress over the different tests. All it does is stress you and the baby out. I didnt want to have the tests done but my husband did. So we had them - I went so far as to forget that I had even taken those tests. I think that helped me a lot because I am a worrier. Then when we got the results (thank goodness everything was fine) I was actually happy and relived but I hadnt worried the whole time. I am also an older 1st time mom. I will be 33 in Nov so I have had a lot of the same concerns. Just take care of yourself and try not to stress too much. It really makes a difference.

Congrats Again!
