6 month check ups!
I can't believe Brenden is already 6 months old! Time just flies so fast! Here I've been wanting him to get older so we can start having fun and now that he is it's almost heartbreaking! Anyway, his 6mo visit went well. Of course he is above the 98th percentile in everything. Weight is 25lbs 7oz, length is exactly 28 inches and head circ is 45! He was quite pissed after the shots but fell asleep about 1/2 way home....I fed him a cereal bottle since he was skipping his solids lunch and put him to bed. I hope he sleeps for awhile...he needs the rest. She said to start soft finger foods if I want to but I think I'll wait until he is sitting on his own first. We've changed his zantac from 3x's per day to 2x's hoping to phase out that middle of the night bottle that has a dose in it. Everything went well and he has met all of his milestones. That really amazes me since I only have Dawson to compare him to and he was about 6 months behind on everything until he was atleast 4.

Michelle-Wow he is a big baby.....But healthy...Glad everything went well... I know it sure does not seem like it has been almost 6 whole months since I had Jeremiah....It has went by fast but slow all at the same time..hopefully you can get rid of the nighttime bottle that way you can get some extra rest... I am still waiting on Jeremiah to get his schedules and teething done so I may get a normal sleep...

Lucas had his 6 month checkup today. He's 18lbs15oz, 27.5 inches and his head is 46cm...He only gained 1lb in 2 months but he's so active so they said he looks great. He's wearing a size 3 diaper and is starting to outgrow 3-6 month outfits. He ca't wear the one piece outfits or onesies if they are 3-6months.If its a two piece outfit he can still wear them.He got upset of course when he got the shots and I started singing to him(he loves to be sung to).He stopped crying immediatelt and as long as I was singing, he didnt cry.The nurse was impressed...
Re: 6 month check ups!
Shannon-Awww Lucas He loves hearing his mommy's voice...that is so cute.

Re: 6 month check ups!
So we had Landree's 6mo check- up today. McKenna also went to have her ears rechecked...they are looking good, but still a little fluid, but that may have to do with her 2 year molars up top still working on coming in. Anyway back to Landree...I really do have peanuts for girls, she weighs 14lbs 0z, so the 5th-10th% (she actually weighs 8oz less than McKenna did at this point) she is 25 1/2 inches (about the 25%) and 17in for head circum (50% there) so she is a lean baby with a big head!!! LOL.

Re: 6 month check ups!
Kim - count your lucky stars on having peanuts....my giant baby is getting so hard to lug around. I can barely carry him in the carseat. I was walking thru Target parking lot the other day and one of the cart guys comes running to me with a cart saying "OMG! Here lady take this cart!!" Landree is the same as Brenden....she doesn't have a big head....she has big brains! LOL!

Re: 6 month check ups!
Well took Jeremiah in for his 6 month check up today... He cried with these shots.. not bad but you could tell they hurt his little legs. She said I could stop the breathing treatments now. He is 19lbs even and still 27 inches long and his head is 18!! She said he is steadily growing in size and staying on the 75th percentile mark while doing it. He seemed to have run a slight fever after the appt but nothing real serious and he slept for like 6 hours straight this afternoon it must have taken a toll on him having the shots and all. And even though this has nothing to do with 6months old...I took Elijah in and they weighed him too he is 53lbs and 47 3/4 inches tall!!! Almost 4 ft.... and I mentioned to her about his tonsils and she checked them out and was convinced that he needed to go get them checked out by a ENT dr...and I did not end up having to show her the video clip of him snoring and breathing funny during his sleep. So I scheduled him for an Appt for May 14th at 1:50pm for the ent dr. I will save the video clips to show him though. She had also stated that he has an infection going on and gave me some penicillin and prednisone(only a 2 day dose)...she said the swelling should go down a little bit but she still wants him to be seen by the other dr.
Michelle-- I am so with you on it being hard to lug baby in carseat now...Jeremiah is feeling super heavy lately in his carseat and I am feeling myself breathing a bit heavy so I am sure it won't be long and I will have to switch to the carseat that stays in the car and tote him around in my arms soon. One thing I hate about them kind though is if they fall asleep you have to wake them up to take them out of the car...ah well it'll save being breathless I guess.

Yep.....Joy that's what's stopped me from buying the "other" carseat! How I hate to wake a sleeping baby! :-(

Re: 6 month check ups!
Its so unbelievable how big our babies are getting! Nate has his 6 month appointment on Monday so I will let y'all know how it goes. I just wanted to agree with the heavy baby carseat. It is killing me getting it in and out of the middle seat of the car and carrying it. At the grocery store I try to park next to a cart return so I can hop out and grab a cart and have it close for when I get out of the store too. Our growing babies! It seems like just yesterday they were in NB size clothes... Today I am buying stage 2 foods....

Re: 6 month check ups!
I have no idea what I would do having to lug around a bigger baby, my peanut and the weight of the car seat have already aggravated my messed up left wrist enough that if I carry her around to long I end up having to wear my wrist brace.

Re: 6 month check ups!
That's why we moved Logan out of the infant seat when we did! He was just too heavy for me - my shoulder was starting to act up! Luckily, we had the convertibles from Rayna, so we didn't have to buy new seats....and this way, I was able to pass the infant seat to my sister to use when her LO arrives this summer....

Re: 6 month check ups!
I carry the carseat on my arm and it is getting to be painful now because he weighs so much....only 4 more lbs and he will have outgrown his infant seat...
Speaking of using other dc car seats...my next up from an infant seat(that I used for ods and dd) was manufactured june 2003...which would make it 6 years old this June.. I may have to buy him another seat and get rid of that one because you are supposed to toss em after they are 6 years old...that's gonna kinda suck because the hubby is unemployed yet.. I hope he can find work soon..

Re: 6 month check ups!
We had Aubrey's 6mo appt on Friday. She's still a tiny little thing. She weighed 13lbs 5 oz & was 23 3/4" and her head is 15 1/2". So she's in the 5% for height & weight and the didn't tell me her head %. Even though she's small the dr said her weight is fine for her height. She said Aubrey has 'good fat' and you can tell when a baby is starving and she's not.
They also diagnosed her with 'refusal to eat'....YES, there is actually something called 'refusal to eat' and she has the main symptom of not wanting to eat unless she's sleeping. She'll eat like a champ when she wakes up in the middle of the night (a champ being she'll actually eat 3oz sometimes) but we can't hardly get her to take 3oz at a time regularly. She said they grow out of it USUALLY or she may always be a small eater. (I don't know where that comes from, not her momma or daddy).
We were all concerned about her being developmentally behind but the pedi went over the things she can and can't do and worked with her some and she said she's not behind. I was so happy. She did say that even though she's strong she needs some tone, she's still a little too floppy. Her head still bops a little bit and even though only 50% of babies are sitting unsupported by this age she's just a little less stable than they would like to see. So, they want us to just work more on her sitting up and if she doesn't seem to improve they would send us to physical therapy if necessary.
They rechecked her for UTI and looks like it's gone again. The specialist told my pedi, one more UTI and we're going to have to seriously consider the surgery even though they prefer to wait at least to 1 year. He told me the same thing but said of course they've done the surgery at 6 months they just prefer the baby to be older & bigger....but I don't think my pipsqueak is gonna be much bigger.
Man, that's alot of posting.....I think that's all. She does go for her upper GI next Mon the 20th.
I will say, sometimes the 13.5#'s gets heavy with the carseat I can't imagine adding another 5+. You ladies are gonna be buff.....

Re: 6 month check ups!
Diana- it is weird that our girls are on the same "track" although Landree can blow through an 8oz bottle like no tomorrow. and your right her height to weight ratio is very good, that is one of the biggest things I learned with all of McKenna's stuff...even though she may be on the small scale as long as she is proportionate to her measurements she should be a-okay. Think of it this way...someone has to be in the 5% to make it so...it might as well be our kids...LOL. She is a petite little thing though isn't she. And honestly I agree with the Dr's. if you can hold off any surgery until 1yr's old, the risks of the anestisia go remarkably down.

Re: 6 month check ups!
Diana - Well even though Aubrey may be small its good to know that she is not starving. Even with the "refusal to eat". Maybe she could teach me refusal to eat.. That would be awesome! ;-). Hopefully her UTIs will stay away for 6 more months.
Well we are back from Nate's 6 month appointment. He is 17.95 lbs (51%) and 27 3/4" long (90%) with 17" head (30%). So he is still tall and lean with a small head. The doctor isnt worried about it because it is growing in proportion to his body and is on the same growth scale as the rest of him. He was so happy and go lucky until he got the shots. Poor little guy. We are continuing the reflux meds as well as the nasonex and adding either claritin or xertec for allergies. This will hopefully keep the ear infections away. He still has some fluid in his ears but they are nearly clear. That is very exciting. I guess that is it for now. I should go and get back to work. I feel like i am spinning like a top today.

Amy, glad Nate's appt went well. Hope his ears stay clear.
Aubrey is the same way just as happy as a little lark and then they come in and stab the dooky out of her.
Kim, I think if Aubrey would eat 8oz each bottle she'd be a chunk b/c she has the build for it.
