February Valentines! - Page 8 Empty Re: February Valentines!

Post by Kim Mon Feb 16, 2009 10:10 am

it's vacation week for all the schools out here this week, so it is a pretty quiet week at work, and today is like working a weekend, no brass here so it is nice.

Michelle- I used a bottle warmer with McKenna...it was such a pain in the ass, we used to pre-make the formula thinking it was easier. I am scared of the microwave with all that jazz about the chemical in the bottles. I don't have the BPA free ones, and from what I read the only time they release those chemicals is when they are heated in the microwave. So we just use warm tap water and make them on demand, for us it is much quicker than premaking and warming.

Speaking of bottles, and I know I have posted about this before, and I have brought it up to the ped. and she is fine with how much Landree is getting but I still feel like she doesn't get enough calories a day. Landree only takes 4 bottles a day, one at 7am, one between 10:30 and 11am, one between 3 and 4 pm and the last one is between 7pm and 7:30pm. Each bottle is 7 to 8 oz....and sometimes she still doesn't finish them. Right now she is only getting solids once a day and it is usually some cereal mixed with formula with her 4pm bottle. What are you LO's eating, how much and how often.

Kim, Aubrey eats 3-4 oz every 3-4 hrs and then 2 T of cereal/3 T formula at night. I don't think it's much either but noone seems to think it's a big deal. I'm going to ask AGAIN today

I will have to catch up later...HOPEFULLY

We're off to the 4 month check up BUT Aubrey's been up most the night with stomach pains and a fever. I know they won't give her the vaccinations if she has a temp. I don't know what's going on with this poor lil girl, hopefully the UTI isn't back. It's been 48hrs since her last dose of antibiotics so they will recheck her today.
I feel so bad for her.....

Good Morning ladies,

Kim - Lets see Nate is eating 6 bottles a day. All except one has 6 oz in it. He may not drink all of them but if he leaves any its usually 1 - 1/12 oz. The other bottle has 4 oz in it and he gets that after he eats 1-2 TBS of rice cereal mixed with water. He doesnt like it mixed with formula for some reason. That is his dinner at around 6 and his last bottle is between 8 & 8:30. Oh, and I agree that is a great siggy!

MichelleL - Here is hoping those boys behave and have a good time. Oh and that you can keep your sanity! Its so hard to believe Brendan is eating like he is when Nate isnt allowed more than Rice Cereal for another 2 months. It just shows the difference in developing kids. The mac and cheese is pretty good. It is more of a grown up flavor but Dawson may like it. My DH ate 1/2 a pan of it last night for dinner. I only got a couple of bites! Sad

Diana - I am so sorry Aubry is feeling bad. Let us know what the doctor says. I hope its nothing serious. Poor little one! Keep us posted.

AFM - Well its Monday. Nate had a difficult evening last night. He was so happy all day long then at about 6:30 the unconsolable crying started. I think he was having a sinus headache mixed with his ear infection but since he cant talk to me I dont know for sure. His face was puffy around the eyes and DH and I were both suffering from sinus issues yesterday. Poor little guy. We finally got him calmed down, after some tylenol and rocking, in time to take a quick cat nap and then wake up for bath (which he actually loved and it helped him a lot) and bottle. Then he went to bed pretty easy.
He did wake up at 1:00 for a bottle. I woke up and went to get him and realized it was DH's night to get him so I woke him up and went back to bed.
Twisted Evil
I probably should have just tended to him but I really wanted my sleep.

Other than that it is a holiday monday. Not that I get off of work - but a lot of people did so it made traffic much nicer to deal with this morning. I guess I should go and get to work. I will be checking in a million times today so I hope everyone takes care!

I'm fighting a cold and I think Logan is too.....just what I need! Ok - Logan isn't calming down -- off to deal with the fussbucket! Smile

Kim- Brenden has really slowed on his formula the past week or so...thank God. We also have a great schedule going and if me posting this jinx's it I'm going to RI to kick your ass! LOL Just joking...maybe. Anyway, all of his bottles are 6oz and drinks them to the very last drop except when DH feeds him then there is usually an oz left. He has breakfast with us (usually 2T oatmeal with 1/2 smashed banana mixed in & his prune juice) at 7am. He has a bottle at 9 and then nap at 9:30. He's up by 10:30 and lunch which is a combination of things that usually equals a container of baby food and he drinks 1oz water with that. Then he has another bottle at 1 and bed at 1:30. He's up anywhere from 2:30-4:00 and at 4 he has a bottle. He eats dinner with us at 6 which consists of about 1 1/2 containers of baby food. Usually two veggies and a fruit. He drinks his other oz of prune juice at this time. At 7:30 (we just moved it up from 7) he has a 6oz bottle w/2 1/2 Trice cereal and to bed he goes. Somtimes he gets up once and sometimes twice to eat. So I guess that's 5 or 6 bottles and a whole lot of baby food. He's become much happier since starting the food....and I don't blame him. Sorry if I typed it confusing. Off to McDonalds we go. If I'm not back on here later today assume the kids took over and I need help!!!!

Michelle, u are way too organized girl...wow, i wish we had that kind of schedule.

I know this should probably go in appts but oh well.

Aubrey didn't get her shots b/c of her temp. We have to make another appt probably next week. They re-cathed to check the UTI and urine looks suspicious so back on the antibiotics so she'll have to go back in for another check before they send her off for her u/s & VGUC (i think) to check for the kidney reflux.
They did FINALLY give her a script for Zantac. Hopefully this will help her eating habits.

She's still tiny 12lb 2oz 22 1/2", being sick she hasn't gained any weight in the last 2 weeks.

Amy, Nate's on Zantac, right? Do you put that in a bottle or just give it to him?

Have a good day ladies...I'm going to try to catch a nap, not much sleep went on here last night.

I hope the meds work...so you win for the littlest one! LOL...Landree is slightly bigger and slightly longer and I still think she looks proportionate so I am imagining Aubrey does too. I would love to see more "fat" on her...but seriously I have come to terms that as babies my kids stay on the small side...Did her Dr's seem concerned about her "lack" of significant weight gain? I am betting the acid reflux has a lot to do with it though...What kind of formula do you use? McKenna did really well with the Enfamil A.R.

Diana - Yes he is on Zantac. We do both. His morning and his evening doses are in his bottle and his mid day dose is straight. Both work but the Zantac tasts nasty so the formula helps hide its flavor. However, if he doesnt drink all of his formula he doesnt get all of the Zantac.

Poor little girl. I hope she gets to feeling better soon!

Amy/Kim....your kids look like they could be siblings with those gorgeous blue eyes.

Amy, cute new pics!! She's only 2x/day so I'm going to mix it if it's nasty.

Kim, they don't seem to be concerned, she's still in the 40% for weight. The Dr said she would have liked to see more but with her being sick she'll take it. It seems she gains 1/2#/ month.
Aubrey looks fine she even looks a little chubby with her cheeks and her rolls on her legs. As long as she's healthy I'll give her this time to be petite b/c poor girl, it will probably be the only time in her life if she has momma's genes.

Ok, I'm really out of here...DH and Aubrey are asleep and I'm taking advantage.

Diana- I hear you...one time when we were going through the testing with McKenna because she was below the 5% Jake and I looked at the Dr. and said you would really rather her be like us? And I am sure our size is why they had extra concern that she was so small...but when you look at Jake's Mom's family they are all short and skinny...his sister is a size two. We were happy that she wasn't gigantic. But in saying that because of everything we had to go through with McKenna to prove that she is just little and it wasn't something more, blood tests, a sweat test, multiple apts with a specialist (not to mention that we were already seeing a specialist for the birthmark on her eye, in which they used to have to strap her down in this straight jacket looking thing and use injections to help it shrink, it was so big at one time her eye could only open halfway) anyway, because of all we went through with McKenna...I get nervous if Landree slips down the chart and almost obessed with what she is getting into her for fear of having to go down that same road again. I truly think her Dr. thinks she is just like her sister, and not any big deal but it is so very hard to let go of that fear.

Kim, BTW, she's on Similac Soy. I think you asked that earlier.
I'm totally with you on the stressing. DH tells me all the time she's fine but I worry constantly that she's eating enough. I am so excited to try the Zantac b/c I've always thought it was hurting her to eat and finally the Dr gave us something. I really like my Peds b/c they are not quick to medicate but in that circumstance it was like pulling teeth to get her Dr to try something.

I am just in a state of shock...I just found out that one of the teachers from DD's pre-school (and one that ODS had when he was there) was killed today in a car accident!! She had been out of school for the past couple of months because her husband was ill, and she was supposed to return after vacation on Monday. I don't how I'm going to explain this to DD, if she's even going to comprehend! I'm kinda thinking I might not mention it because she's used to the teacher not being there anyway.....I don't know....it's just such a shock!

OK - personals...

Kim - Logan is eating 3 "meals" a day now - he has cereal mixed with formula and fruit (this morning I started applesauce with him). A little bit afterwards, he'll have a 4 oz bottle. Then he'll nurse about 2-2.5 hrs later and probably have another 2-4oz bottle (depending on his mood), I just started giving him lunch yesterday (a veggie). So he'll have lunch around 12 or 1 (depending on the day), then afterwards (about 30 min to an hour) he'll have a 4 oz bottle, then nurse around 3ish, and maybe have a bottle then too (again, depends on his mood), have dinner (a veggie) around 5:30/6 and then have a bottle after that. He's ready for bed by 7:15/7:30, and he'll nurse and sometimes have a bottle - depends on how the day has gone. He'll be up one or two times during the night and normally just nurses. I think that's how it works - he's not on a true time schedule -- he still kinda feeds on demand to some extent. And btw, the siggy is way cool.

Diana - poor Aubrey! Hopefully this time the meds will clear everything up and the Zantac will help her to eat more comfortably!

Amy - that picture of Nate is precious!!! He looks like he's enjoying his food!

Post by MichelleL Mon Feb 16, 2009 5:10 pm

Well, I am back.....and alive! We actually had a great time! I was a little nervous taking a baby and 3 nine year olds to play at an insanely busy place like McDonalds but it all went very well. Dawson only got in trouble once. He told a little kid who was hogging the top of the slide to either go or he was gonna cut off all of his fingers. I have no idea where he came up with that but it cost him 10 minutes of playing with his friends so after that there were no more issues! Unfortunately the mother of the child that would just sit at the top of the slide so no one could go down it didn't think her child was causing a problem.....

Diana - we do zantac three times a day and I put it in his bottles. Dawson can tell you how nasty it is....he takes his like a shot of tequila but there has to be an ice cold apple juice right there to wash it down! He's been taking it since birth. If she is having reflux the zantac WILL help her. Give it a few days and make sure you give her the doses exactly 12 hour apart if she is only taking two.....it does make a difference. You will also notice a difference if she misses a dose. Anyway, just my 2cents.

Kim- once we got home Brenden went to sleep at his usual 1 or a little after. It took awhile to get him down and I was thinkin' about ya'. I'll let you know after tonight if I am coming to RI! LOL

I'm here Michelle! Sorry just trying to catch up on my reading since you guys have been so busy!!

See this is why I have to keep checking through out the day because otherwise I get lost.lol .My v-day was actually decent.Got to the MIL's house and she was in the process of dying her own hair and then attempting to do highlights so DH and I helped her out. We had a nice early meal of roast chicken and then DH and took of at about 5:45pm and got home just after 7pm...DH got me roses and a card that he wrote the sweetest (and much needed to hear) stuff inside...Yesterday I was in a funky mood.No other way to describe it other than that. DH and I went to the store to get groceries with Luc and wandered the petstores looking at fish and trying to decide if we feeli like setting up our 75 gallon tank again and whether we feel like doing fresh water or salt water...Watched some movies and had dinner and watched some more movies...Lucas got to go in hi jumpy though for the first time yesterday(the one that hangs from the door frame) and DH and I watched him...He was so excited and bounced and squealed and shrieked and laughed and bounced some more! It was so cute! Today DH took a half day to spend some more time with me and Luc since Saturday was kind of a lost day...We went to Applebee's for lunch and I've been dog sitting since yesterday too. DH is taking a nap and I'm sitting for the first time today...It's so quiet with my 2 older boys gone. They drive me nuts but I miss them like crazy,....Ah well better enjoy it while I can...

Hi Ladies. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I try to check in and read when I can. I had my first prenatal check up today..yay again. My doctor was like "This is not what we had planned the last time we talked." Which was at my 6 weeks check up when I was going to schedule the Mirena. OH well. He told me I was the second girl he saw today that had a baby in sept and was pregnant again. So yay to all of us with raging hormones!! lol. I swear this pregnancy just has me so run down. I am drained and the WHOLE DAY sickness is killing me. I swear the week I found out I was pregnant my whole belly puffed up like I am 4 or 5 months pregnant. I hope it goes back down before I Start gaining weight. I only gained 27lbs last one...so I hope its less!

Miss Chloe is doing good. She is on a schedule with sleep..which is great. She wants to be in the bed alseep around 11pm every night and usually sleeps to around 9am or 10... We usually dont go to bed until a whole lot later..so maybe i could enjoy it if we actually went to bed! She is all into peaches and bananas. She only gets into the cereal when it's in her bottle. I am hoping to try some Oatmeal cereal and see if she gets into that. This teething deal is something else. I feel so bad for her. she just eats her toys and fusses! We had her in walker the other night and I saw something moving, I just thought she was fidgeting until I realized she was scooting it across the floor! It was so cute! She was so determined and excited! I let her watch like one cartoon a day because thats all she will pay attention to. She stands in her walker and watches Dora. She "talks" to the tv and throws toys everywhere when she gets excited! lol. She is so much fun!

I hope all of ya'll ladies are doing well. I am really going to try and keep up with checking in more often. Most of the time I just have time to stop in and read the posts and get out! sunny

Well for Valentines Day My hubby ended up making me breakfast(Scrambled eggs and Spam) Although I only had the eggs part of it. Then he ended up giving me a card with a balloon and a box of chocolates that he had hidden earlier in the week. Then later on that day we ended up going to the Valentines Day dinner hosted at church. They had a guest speaker there and a nice dinner with candles and everything and there was a sitter there for the kids too. Although I am a bit over protective of Jeremiah yet so he stayed with me during the dinner and stuff. I mean I know the girl they had watching Elijah and Faith so it would ve been safe for baby but I was not ready to let him outta my sight yet. So it was a great day for me. Hubby has been doing the Love dare(from FIREPROOF) and I have to say I am seeing a bit of improvement. I have seen his patience being tested quite a bit and he has not been making any negative remarks. I mean he didnt usually make any only once in awhile and usually when we argued but still. Other than that not too much is new here really...

Morning Ladies!

Elise that is so sad. Is the school going to do something in memory of her? Are they explaining it to the kids or just going to let it go by? It is very tragic and I am sorry everyone is having to go through it.

MichelleL - I am so glad those boys didnt drive you crazy. That mom really should have seen that completly blocking a piece of equipment for all of the kids to use was an issue. Sheesh - people!

Shannon - I am glad you checked in and that you, Luc and DH are having some good quality time together. That is really important. I kind of realized the importance when DH and i went on our date on Saturday. You really do need some couple time now and then.

Jessica - glad to hear things are going well. I was actually just thinking about you. I noticed your birthday was coming up and if I dont see you before then - Happy Birthday! I am glad to hear everything is going well with Chloe and your new pregnancy. Hang in there, hopefully the all day sickness will subside soon!

Eileen - Glad to hear your 4mth check up went well. How are you doing? Has the lady at work cooled her jets any? Have you been able to relax at all? I have been thinking about you.

Joy - I am glad you had a great Valentines day. I am glad your DH is putting forth the effort to help your relationship. Thats a gift in itself.

Kim - Good Morning! How were the steaks?

AFM - Not much new just got to work and I usually check in here while I eat my breakfast and drink my coffee. I am so excited. Nate slept through the night last night. He slept from about 8:45PM - 6:45AM. That was such a gift. It was my night too! So here is hoping he does the same thing for DH tonight and continues this lovely pattern. I guess that is about it for now. I should go and get my work day started. Sad

Take Care!

Amy- Isn't a full nights sleep so nice!!! Landree has been going down at the same time as McKenna...around 7:30-8pm, and we actually get up more for McKenna crying than we do for Landree, we only rarely have to get up for Landree making noise and they sleep until just about 7am.

Amy - I know that they are going to close school on whatever day the funeral is. Other than that, I don't know! They are actually on break this week! We haven't even talked to Rayna (DD) about it, because we don't think she'll really get it.

Michelle - glad things went well with your play date.

Shannon - glad the visit with the MIL wasn't too bad.

AFM: Logan had a decent night last night. Yeah!! And this morning he had his full bowl of cereal with formula and applesauce. Yeah!!! Something tells me sleep training will be in our future, since he's still getting up. We had to do it with the other 2 too. I hated having to do it, but with Jeremy (ODS), I was crying as much as he was. With Rayna, I could handle it better because I knew she was okay. Hopefully, with Logan, I'll be okay with it too. Most likely, because I cherish the time after the kids go to bed and before I go to bed. It's the time that DH have to watch TV, have a real conversation or just be together. Of course, it's also the time that we spend cleaning up the kitchen and me getting stuff ready for the next day, but it's time together!!

Ok - time to check on the big kids to make sure they're not driving each other crazy or turning the house into a diaster area! Smile

Hi ladies

Elise, that is so sad. I wouldn't know what to do about DD either but I don't think I would say anything since she's been gone anyway.
Glad to hear u got some sleep.

Michelle, I could get on a soapbox about people letting their kids be rude and disrespectful. EWWW, it gets on my last nerve. I'm glad it was a good time in general.

Jessica, I was wondering how you were doing. Glad to hear everything is going well other than the sickness, hope that goes away soon.

Kim/Shannon/Bekah (did i miss anyone?), hey girls!! hope u'r having good days

Amy, glad to hear Nate gave you a good night's sleep. Here's to many more (fingerscrossed)

Eileen, glad the 4 month visit went well. I don't blame you I would get them all done at one time too regardless of the craziness.

AFM: I'm at work today. I've called G'ma 2x to make sure all is well. Aubrey didn't sleep well, but has been in good spirits other than when she gets these bouts of pain. I know she still has signs of the UTI but I'm seriously wondering if she didn't catch a little stomach bug b/c when she's screeching in the middle of the night there is alot of gas going on and she has filled her diaper for me twice to the point of out the top in the front and back.
I went out Thurs night and I was sick on Friday...sicker than if I went out and had a few beers even DH asked if I had a bug and I was like, NO...I played I'm taking full responsibility but it was like it was the first time I even had liquor, I was SO sick. My point, maybe I did have something and I gave it to her. It's going around here.

February Valentines! - Page 8 Empty Re: February Valentines!

Elise - Wow! I don't even know what to say about the teacher. I hope the school is doing something to help the kids figure this out. I understand about the block of time after kids go to bed and before adults go to bed! I've always enjoyed the few hours. It's working out pretty good here since Brenden is sleeping upstairs in his own room. DH puts him down about 7:30...sometimes 8 and Dawson goes to bed at 8:30. I used to stay up until 10:30 but it's now 9:30 and I still cherish my ONE hour. Last night I layed in our bed and watched tv on the plasma tv we bought in November....we've only been able to watch it a handful of times since the baby was in our room.

Shannon - that is so cool you and DH are spending some extra time together! I agree that you definately need couple time. We haven't gotten ANY since the birth of the baby and I can definately see the difference. Somtimes life gets so busy and tiring that it's easy to forget what started it all.

Jessica - so good to hear from you!!! Glad to know your pregnancy is going well. You should keep in touch more often! :-)

Eileen - How is the CPS mess going? I hope it is nearly a closed book....

Kim - we use our grill year round also. Granted it's a lot warmer here than where you are but I'd imagine we'd be shoveling a path through the snow ourselves!! A steak just isn't the same if it's not on the grill!! It just amazes me how layed back Landree is.....everyone should be so lucky! ;-)

Diana - I sure hope Aubrey gets to feeling better soon! It sounds like a stomach bug to me also. Hopefully it will last a day or two and be gone!

AFM - Brenden only woke at 2am to eat last night so I got a really good nights sleep! I felt so energized this morning, especially since DH took the feeding!!!! He must have felt bad about Friday and waking me like he did. Anyway, I had a dr appt my self today. My BP is all out of whack. 100/160 today. I contribute it to DH calling me on the way to the appt and telling me that 700 of his co-workers will lose their jobs by today's end.....I say co-workers but it could easily be him, too. I'm so stressed. Also, I talked to her about my abnormal menstral gushing and she thinks I have uterine fibroids. After my next cycle she is going to scan me and see what we find. I'm so thrilled. :-( Anyway, Brenden jsut woke up so I'll talk to ya'll later. Have a good Tuesday.
