Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
No last night i joked with dh and said " can't we all just take a xanax?" LOL!! I definitely have high-maintenance children...like right now lexi won't stay asleep or keep her nuk in unless i hold it and keep bouncing her in the bouncy - the min i walk away she fusses...she just won't "be".

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Thanks Shannon...I may have to try that. I have Mylicon but I don't think it's working so well for her. I have to make a trip to Walgreens so I just may pick some up.
Heather, hope Lexi sleeps for you and your DS goes potty for you. Poor lil guy, that's miserable when u'r big.
Kim, yes, I think I went undiagnosed. She was born with every symptom of GD, not just lungs. She had low blood sugar, low sodium, low magnesium, low calcium. She was weighed 9-6. I always measured big and they knew she was going to be big but b/c all my numbers came back fine they just chalked it up to DH's family being big babies. DH was the smallest of 3 at 9-4. The neonatologist in the NICU had my Dr bring my charts so she could look at my test results herself b/c she couldn't believe I didn't have GD.

Diana-So does that mean that if you have more kids they watch you more closely or test you more often?

Shannon- I was thinking the same thing...
and Diana, in all honesty the GD diet was not that bad, I would probably just do the diet regardless as I would be nervous...if the situation ever arises I would be more than happy to help you...

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Okay so in case anyone was wondering if it is a good idea to redo al the floors in your house with a one month old it isn't...lol i don't know what I was thinking but we are getting tile in the kitchen and baths and laundry room, and laminate in the living room and carpet upstairs. so my house is all tore up, not so bad during the day with just me and the little one home but when the 2 yr old gets home it is hell keeping him away from everything. I can't seem to allow myself to relax on a maternity leave I swear I need to learn!...lol

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
As if I'm not overwhelmed enough, DD had a follow-up hearing test today and there is still some hearing loss. (Quick Background -- she had a hearing test in jan that showed that she had some hearing loss due to fluid in her ears so she had surgery in march to remove the adenoids, tonsils and have tubes put in her ears). They think the tube might have moved or there might be fluid in her ear causing the hearing loss, or she could just have earing loss. So, the report will be sent to her ped and the ENT and then we'll have to take her to the ENT to get the tube checked...she had her 6 mo follow up with the ENT in sept right before logan was born and he said the tubes were fine and she saw the ped a couple of weeks ago for her 4 year check up and he didn't see any fluid, but who knows!?! When it rains, it pours...and DH said he heard rumors that the first round of layoffs might be starting next week, which means if he's in that group, he'll have 90 days until he's out of a job and we won't hear anything about the potential new job until sometime in dec, and i'm kinda worried about my sugar test next week - my great-uncle on my dad's side (my grandmother's brother) had diabetes, so it runs in the family and i don't know if i could deal with finding that out right now 'cause i'm just stressing out all over the place right now! which means i'm eating stupidly because in times of great stress, i turn to food, which i have trying not to do, but when you're home all day with nothing else but time to think of all this stuff 'cause everytime you put down the baby he starts crying.....and now i'm home alone with all 3 kids 'cause DH had to go to a planning meeting for scouts (ODS is in cub scouts and DH is a den leader) and all i want to do is go upstairs and crawl under the covers and have a good cry and i can't do that right now!! so i'm venting here instead. ok, i think i'm done rambling now - sorry for the long post....i hate hormones! they make us so crazy at times!!
ok - it's too quiet -- better go see what DD is getting into....

I am soooo glad I have you girls on here and that I am not the only one going through massive stress! Not that I wish ANY stress on any of you!
Tonight is another chaotic night. I just want to scream and cry and crawl under the covers too. My anxiety is through the roof. My body is still trying to fight this chest/sinus cold.
I am praying more than i ever have to God. I will send prayers out for the rest of you too.

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
You know Heather I was thinking about Lexi this afternoon and I got to wondering about something. When my first ds was a baby and had such bad reflux the GI put him on carafate to coat his esophagus and GI tract - he also gave him Reglan which helped relax his something or rather. This was all in addition to the zantac. He was much more calm after that. I mean he still cried a lot but nothing like he was doing. Maybe Lexi has a very immature GI system...that was the cause of all of first ds's problems. I mean he had congenital defects...but the defects caused him system to not mature properly kwim? Anyway, just a thought. -Michelle

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Michelle - I am thinking the same thing, but I will have to have her see the GI dr which is at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital and there is usually a waiting list of months...we are going to try to see at her appt. on Friday. There are only a few more things I can do - add the carafate like you said, try a prokinetic like reglan - but I wouldn't want reglan die to its scary side effects - i would try eyrthromycin first, or add an H2r blocker like zantac with the prevacid - I have done a ton of research and talked with other reflux moms but can't do anything without talking with a GI doc and that could take forever...but thank you soooo much for thinking of my little Lexi!
She only woke up 1 time last night!!! Now only if we could get her evening screaming under control and her comfortable with eating!!

Heather- I really hope things get better for you...when a little one is in such obvious pain I have no idea why they make you make so long to see a specialist that is just crazy!!! Poor Lexi...and poor Mommy.

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Yeah for sleeping babies! I am so glad some of your babies are starting to sleep a bit.
Heather - I think we all are hoping the best for Lexi. Its crazy that it takes so much to see a GI specialist. I hope you get some help soon.
Eileen - I am jealous of the sleep Daniel had and the flooring. My house needs new floors like no bodys business. 2 big high energy dogs have done a job on them. So jealous!
AFM - Thank you all for the birthday well wishes. It was an interesting day to say the least. After my day from hell we are headed out to dinner and my husband drops the bomb on me that he has agreed to go to the Netherlands for a couple of days for a job interview. He didnt even tell me before he agreed to go! I started bawling. It was at that point that I had had all I could take for that day. We did go and have a yummy dinner so I proceeded to have 2 margaritas. We then agreed that the dogs will have to go to camp while he is gone. I cant handle our dogs and a newborn for days on end with no relief. I look forward everyday to him coming home so I can at least have a moment of sanity. This job is looking like it might be a really good one. They are after him. He originally turned them down but it has made them want him more. I guess we shall see how it goes.
We are still dealing with gas issues with this little guy. We had another projectile spit up event this morning. I call it an event because it was like a whole bottles worth. It covered me, him, the bouncy chair - everything! We burp him, give him the Mylicon drops his little body just holds the gas until he explodes somehow out of one end or the other.
I guess that is it for now. We are going to have lunch with Grammy today. I guess I should finish getting ready as we are leaving in a 1/2 hour.
Take Care!

Heather - I'm not sure how your children's hospital works but here she would see a ped GI if she were taken to the ER with her symptoms (at Texas Childrens not a regulare hosptial)...not saying she needs the ER but if that's what it takes to get to the Ped GI then it's a thought.

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Heather - I am sorry your little one's tummy is in such a knot! I really hope you get to see that doctor! I can't even imagine how badly this must distress you. We are praying for you and your little girl here.
Elise - I am having trouble getting joseph to sleep on his own now too. Although it's weird because we have been putting him in his crib for a while, but now he won't sleep unless he's in our arms for a loooong time. I think DF is regressing him cuz he barely EVER puts him in his crib unless he is like starving for some sleep...
Amy - I'm sorry your b-day did not go so well. I know its rough when SO's go away for a while. My DF is in the navy reserves and he would go off 1 weekend a month and it would kill me, and when we were dating (we were still REALLY close even that early), he went to florida with his family and it practically killed us to be apart. I can't imagine what it will be like for you and Nate. But good that the dogs won't be around. definitely cuts back on the stress I'm sure!
AFM - I broke down last night and told DF that we could just pick up and move to New Jersey. He's been talking about it or a really long time, and I finally gave in. I had been talking to my mom and she made a good point. She and my dad moved to like out of nowhere places like up to Washington State, to Roswell NM, and to Pacos, TX. They didn't have family there or anything and she's right about the reason. She said, "you know, because your dad was the one making the money, I let him choose where or how he wanted to make it." You know, if I'm going to stay at home with Joseph, what do I care where that home is? His family is perfectly hospitable and it's not like he doesn't have connections to get a job or anything! So, I have to get a few things taken care of before we get married in december. We are getting married before the end of the year because then joey can be a dependent on Cory's tax returns and all that good stuff. We were going to get married soon anyways. I just want to(and I know this sounds messed up) use the insurance benefits while I can! I am going in for an eye exam next week so I can make sure I have contacts and the right prescription for my glasses. I am also waiting for AF so I can call my doctor and get that Mirena! She may even want to see me one more time after that to make sure its working right... so I dunno. Anyways, I am excited and freaking out all at the same time! oh! Joey's waking up! Bye guys!!!

Wow you guys have been busy!!!If I leave someone out then I apologize...
Elise-You have alot going on right now.All very stressful!!I hope your test comes back well.I'm also ho[ing that your DH isn't in the first round of layoffs.There's no time of year thats good for a layoff but holiday time is the worst!Your poor DD and her ears!{{HUGS}}
Joy- LOL What did your DH do?
Amy-The Netherlands?Wow what does your DH do?I'm sorry your birthday was so crazy but I bet those margaritas were darn good!!!
Bekah-Are you having a big wedding? When DH and I got married we just used a JP.For our 10 year anniversary we will have a big wedding. It was just for us...When are you guys moving?
AFM-Nothing new here...My cousin has been living with my aunt for a few months and her and her 18month old came for a visit today. It was nice to have the company. But I forgot how busy kids are at that age...My house got turned upside-down in a matter of minutes...She brought me her Moby wrap to borrow, that thing is soooo cool!!!!!Now I just need to learn myself how to put it on...ok later e-mommas!

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Michelle - The closest and best is Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville. When our son was still having issues at 1 year old it took 3 months to get an appointment and even then we needed a referral from our ped. Lexi has an appt. with her ped tomorrow at 10. I am hoping he will make a call and get her in with a specialist as soon as possible. I am certainly not waiting a year like I did with Robbie!!!
My biggest problem right now is not the screaming, but her battling me at almost EVERY feeding. I have tried other bottles, nipples and she just freaks out more. Its like she doesn't know how to properly suck. I have to stand up, sit down, sway her, shush her, distract her just to keep her sucking and not freak out on me. So something else is going on...
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts they mean a lot!

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Shannon - We aren't having a big wedding. We are also going to the JP. And our idea is similar to yours. When we build up the money to do so, we will have a big renewal of the vows ceremony... That should be good.
Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Thats what we did we got married early because we were buying our house and going to have the wedding at the house...well i got prego the day we got married oops! so by the summer when we were going to have the wedding i was huge and not in the mood to have pictures taken...lol now it is like no way am i going to spend the money...lol we will go to the carinbean or bahamas or whatever and do a vow ceremony there at some point. Startnig out so in debt it is crazy with wedding these days! I have a friedn just spent $15,000 on a wedding and they are starting out $15,000 ni debt i am like no way not in this life time!...lol we just now got our debt under control we only have outr house payment no credit cards and no car payments.

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
We got married on a cruise ship...if you wanted to see it you paid your own way...enough people came with us that our cruise was free the wedding portion cost $2,000 and we had a big party when we came back and that was $2,000...my parents are divorced...so the three sets of parents(jake's too) split the cost of everything, but you couldn't beat it, wedding, honeymoon and reception for $4,000.
Amy- does that mean the job will be in the Netherlands or here?
Bekah- we almost got married before our wedding so I could put DH on my insurance. Check with his insurance company too, some now allow for common law spouses to be added.
AFM- I had a freaking fantastic day!!! I seriously can't tell you how excited I am...the best news, no diabetes, it was indeed only gestational. That doesn't mean I won't get it later in life, but I don't have it now. My BP was a little high but then they took it again at the end of the apt and it was fine...I think because I was nervous about the sugar results. AND....I finally got freaking paid!!! OMG, I am going grocery shopping!!!

Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Kim - My fiancee doesn't have insurance. Joey is covered by Medicaid but my fiancee's job does not offer insurance, because he has not worked there longer than a year. And we're about to move anyways, so there's no point in trying to set it up with his job now since he won't be working there anymore. Push comes to shove, we are going to pay out of pocket for insurance when DF gets a job in New Jersey. Also, I don't really know what common law entails, but DF and I have only been together for almost two years. I was sure that you were only common law if you lived with someone and i guess did your taxes together for 6 years that made you common law. But I am not sure what the standards actually are.
Re: NOVEMBER ALREADY!
Bekah - where in NJ? We go there periodically as my in-laws live in NJ.
Kim - Yeah for getting paid! Gotta love RI - they are so messed up at times! I remember that from when I lived there.
AFM: I ended up taking Logan's temp last night to get him to poop - DH thought I was nuts, until he saw the poop coming out within seconds of me taking the thermometer out. Then he had another good night! I think we have finally gotten him sleeping on his own - we started putting him in full sleepers rather than the layette gowns, and that seems to make a big difference. It supposed to rain so more today and most of tomorrow, which changes our plans -- don't know what we are going to do so the kids don't drive me insane being in the house all day....
okay - time to get the lunches made and all that fun stuff! Have a good day ladies!!
p.s. it's too bad we all don't live in the same area - i have a feeling we'd have a great playgroup!
